September Updates

I finally got a new phone!!!

Well.. technically not lol, Steve got a new phone off craigslist (Samsung Galaxy S4) and he gave me his old Iphone 4S! I can actually use Instagram again!! I want the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3!! T_T but I'm poor.. super sad lol.

So sorry about the lack of updates, I wouldn't have thought that school would keep me this busy.. lol.  I  got a wind burn on my lips earlier this month >.< and they were all puffy and red and irritated! I was super pissed off about it! It was so flippin embarrassing to have it too because everyone stares at it. I went out to London Drugs the other day to pick up some Vaseline (Steve told me it helped when he had a windburn a long time ago) and I had a choice between a super monster tub for $5 and a super tiny one for $2... I ended up getting the $2 and I'm pretty sure people at school would be like wtf if I showed up with a big tub of Vaseline lol.

Lips nice and wind burned
thanks nature..

I'm really regretting taking that Mandarin class lol, I mean I like the class and all but its just at a super inconvenient time >.< class starts at 6:30pm ends at 8:30pm and then it takes me like an hour and 15 minutes to get home plus there's like a three hour gap between my two classes and I don't know what to do with myself half of the time. When I signed up I thought it would only be an hour class.. boy was I wrong! lol

Man! Steve's mom should never have taken this course, she makes me do all her stupid work! She'll write her shit down in really crappy english (she took university english classes like WTF! she can't even form a simple sentence!) to the point where I have to re-write the whole damn thing and its SUPER FRUSTRATING especially when I have my own school work to do and usually she asks me to do it the day before a fucking test and she gets SUPER bitchy when I don't do it for her.

I've been so exhausted lately, school is really draining my energy T_T I just wish I went to a school that was much closer but that aint happenin! lol

**********

I was craving ramen SO BAD! So we went to Kintaro Ramen on Denman street ^__^ it was soo goooood!! lol I was gonna order the cheese ramen but then I ended up getting the spicy one.

Why yes that is a massive ball of garlic on top lol
This was really good ramen but holy smokes did it make me gassy lol

Steve got this
I guess its more traditional? Not sure which one he got but it was good

 Massive bowls!

I love gyoza!

If you're visiting Vancouver you gotta check this place out! Warning though they have long lines sometimes.

I guess its a short update, I don't expect the next few months to be any more exciting that what I've posted lol mainly because of school. I'll probably post up things that I purchase and have tried.. lol

Etude House: Red Ginseng Sheet Mask

Hoho! Have not posted anything in almost a week? sorry about that!
I've been quite busy this past week which I will post about later :P
But for now I'm going to tell you about Etude House's Red Ginseng Sheet Mask!

Smells like sticks! lol

It seems to me that the Etude House sheet masks are really hit or miss. I've tried some before that weren't so hydrating and the mask would just dry out after 5 minutes and leave a really strange residue on my face, I don't know... the surface of my skin would have some sort of resistance to it instead of being smooth and the next day my skin would be really oily >.< it could be just me though.. not everyone has the same skin.

BUT! this one didn't do that to my skin. According to Sasa:

Etude House Red Ginseng Mask Sheet, ingredients extracted from 6-year-old red ginseng, restores skin strength after exposing to harmful radicals including stress, pollution, debris and weather. It helps to maintain firmness and smoothness and provides nourishment needed to slow down aging process.

Adhered to my skin quite well

This mask didn't dry out after 5 minutes of applying it on and it did smell like sticks lol but it wasn't a bad smell and its really subtle anyways so its hardly noticeable unless you are super sensitive to perfumes and scents.

What Do I Think Of This Product?

No residue this time

My skin felt really smooth and moisturized after using the product. In terms of actually providing some nutrients... I can't say that much has changed, whenever I do use sheet masks my skin gets super moisturized anyways because its getting soaked into the skin, at least it didn't leave a residue nor did it make my skin oily.

Where Can You Buy This Product?

Currently Sasa says its currently out of stock but when you look at the whole Etude House inventory list they have its not listed there so I'm sure they have stopped selling this product.

You can get it on Ebay about 3 for $7 and up

This product is also available on Amazon but there's only one seller and its $3.38 + $4.49 for shipping >.< and I'm pretty sure its only one sheet mask since it doesn't say how many you will get.

My Acne Story

Holy smokes my skin has broken out pretty bad lately. I haven't seen my skin like this in like 10 years o.O When I was a teenager I had HORRIBLE acne. There wasn't a place on my face where there were no pimples, seriously and nothing I used helped it. I started breaking out when I was 13/14 and it was really sudden and really bad. Prior to that I never used skincare products until I had acne which gets me to thinking, what age did you start using skincare products? I think bad acne runs in our family because Ashley used to have pretty bad acne when we were young but it wasn't as bad as mine, plus some of our cousins have pretty bad acne too.

It also didn't help when every Chinese auntie or my mom's stupid Vietnamese friends would point to my skin and be like "Your not washing your face enough!" or tell me how bad my skin is >.< YOU DON'T THINK I KNOW!? FUCK lol. I also hated it when my mom would randomly make some gross soup and be like "drink this, it'll make your skin clear you're too Yeet Hay" I drank it once and it tasted like crap lol and never drank it ever again apparently her soups cure cancer now LOL.

For those who don't know what Yeet Hay is I'll give you the jist of it, the literal translation is "hot air" and a lot of my cousins don't believe in it, what it means is that if you eat too much sugary or greasy/fat foods you will have too much hot air in your body and your skin will break out. I believe in it to some extent but my mom also says that if you don't wear a coat/jacket then cold air will get into your stomach and then you will die from cancer -___-' so.. some of it I don't believe in lol. Maybe some of you Cantonese people will understand lol.

By the time I was 15/16 years old my skin had started to clear because I was using proactive which I used for many years but it always left my skin oily. It was this year when I stopped using proactive all together I used only the repairing lotion and a whole bunch of other random products with it.

I'm not really surprised I broke out but it pisses me off LOL. I've been exposing my skin to a lot of dirt/dust and cooking oil lately. I cleaned the house REALLY WELL the other day so a lot of stuff has been flinging up into the air and I still have to scrub the crap out of the floor lol.

I'm doing a little experiment to see if any of the products I use in the next few days can clear them up for me. My skin is also super oily right now too -___-' This is what my skin literally looked like when I was in Korea for the first week (due to the heat/humidity/pollution) and it also looked like this in Hawaii too, heat and humidity is not good for my skin.

My skin broke out last night really unexpectedly too (hence the pictures above). During the day it was fine a few blemishes here and there but later on in the evening my skin felt really oily and felt sensitive (slightly burning) so I went to look at it in a mirror and I was like OMG WTF my whole forehead had small pimples everywhere and I had a few large pimples too >_< I brushed my teeth and washed my face as well as exfoliated with the St. Ives apricot scrub and used my regular skincare routine but my skin still felt oily >.<

This is 12 hours after the first few pictures
tried to get a photo with goodish lighting but ended up blinding myself LOL

The next day I went to the gym to work out and I also drank tons of water and green tea. I have to admit I don't drink water/green tea as much as I should but it never has really effected my acne anyways. Food doesn't really affect my skin that much anyways but I do think that green tea does help my skin quite a bit.

I didn't change my regular skincare routine the next day (morning) either cause I figured my skin is overly oily anyways the Skin Food Peach Sake line makes my skin matte and less oily so it should help a little. That night I was contemplating whether or not I should use a clay mask or a aloe pack mask for my skin. Ended up using the aloe pack mask :D which helped loads. By then most of the little pimples had almost disappeared anyways but still had a few of the bigger blemishes >.<

**********

Anyways my skin has basically cleared :D it only took 4 days >.< lame! lol but I was surprised on how fast the small little pimples disappeared, basically like a day!

Some blotchiness but its mostly clear now

We're going to visit Ashley this weekend ^__^ I wish I wasn't so broke though so I can buy some stuff lol but Steve said he has to go back at some point to get wheels or something because the store that he was going to get them from didn't hold them and sold them so they have to order them again and it'll take like a week >.< and I get to see TRIXIE! (Ashley's Yorkshire terrier lol)

Obsessions

I guess in a way its like a monthly favorites post? only excludes makeup and skincare products LOL. These are just things that I'm really obsessed with lately LOL.

 MOST FAVORITEST DRINK RIGHT NOW

I love coconut juice! but then I saw this at T & T Supermarket and wanted to try it, OMG never ever going to buy regular coconut juice ever again. I'm totally obsessed! If I were stuck on a deserted island and I could have one drink it would be this.. although the deserted island might have coconuts... -___-' lol

 Organizers

I have no idea why I keep on trying to find new ways to organize my "beauty" drawer? and my clothes but I find it fun as well as finding organizers for everything else in the house lol. I got these drawer organizers from Ikea for like $7 O..O So awesome!

Athena

Its not that I'm obsessed with her, its just I MISS HER!!!!!! T_T we got her last last November but had to give her away because me and Steve didn't have the time to take care of her. Poop I want her back! she was such a sweet puppy.. T_T

I haven't bought much lately but I plan to buy new clothes soon, my pants are having difficulties staying up without a belt LOL but me and Steve are planning on visiting Ashley sometime this month :D so I'll probably go shopping with her then! :D

Also my skin has broken out!! POO!!

You can kind of see the lumps underneath my skin >.< Not sure what's happening here!
Plus its quite dry right now.. boooo!

Nature Republic Haul

The highlight of the Hawaii trip! lol

I was so glad they had a Nature Republic in Honolulu! there was one girl that was super nice and pretty! every time we went in there she had super cute hair, she knew the products so well! girl deserves a promotion/raise! (will find out her name on the receipt) she also told us that New Jersey just opened up their own Nature Republic! OMG LUCKY YOU! T_T

Onto the goods:

The Nature Republic Truffle [EX] Wrinkle Toner, Emulsion and Sleeping Mask

What the Truffle [EX] Line Does: This line is enriched with truffle mushroom extracts for wrinkle improvement.

This is The Nature Republic Original Power Lifting Ampoule and Whitening & Lineless Ampoule
(The boxes are dented from being in the suitcase)

What the Lifting Ampoule Does: Helps to revive the skins natural health while strengthening skin elasticity with intensive collagen ampoule care.

What the Whitening & Lineless Ampoule Does: Helps to revive the skins natural health through intensive care of a pearl and caviar ampoule for brightening and wrinkle improvement.

This is The Nature Republic Blemish Lab Clear+Moisturizer

What the Blemish Lab Moisturizer Does: This refreshing lotion makes the skin blemish-care (no joke) I think they meant to say blemish free.

I wish I bought more sheet masks, seriously!
I bought the Essential Solution CO-Q10 and the Rice Mask

Description of the Essential Solution CO-Q10: With its abundant nutrients and the active ingredient of coenzyme Q10, this mask makes skin firm and smooth.

Description of the Rice Mask Sheet (Do they mean sheet mask?): This facial mask sheet brightens the skin with rice extract.

Their nail polishes were like $2!!!!!! OMG!!

I'm really amazed at the quality these products are produced at for the price that they are even some popular North American branded products are produced at this price and they're such shitty quality everything in this post is in a glass bottle and I didn't pay more than $25 for each product.

Nature Republic, you are amazing!!!

Maybe I will do a giveaway after they are reviewed? Let me know if I should or not :D

Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel

Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera 92% Soothing Gel
(what a long name)

I bought this gel about a week or two ago off of Ebay for $9.85 US and it came in the mail pretty quick which I was super happy about :D

I've been using Skinfood's Peach sake line and I knew it would be drying for my skin. I noticed that my skin has been slightly flaky lately, especially on my cheeks and the tip of my nose. For a temporary solution I was using the L'oreal anti-shine gel which didn't really do anything lol.

Size comparison: Bath and Body works 3-wick candle
Vs
Nature Republic Aloe gel
Its HUGE

It's totally filled to the brim
It came with a plastic cover that you have to take off
so when you first open it it doesn't explode or spill everywhere lol

For like $10 you get a lot of product, if I used it just on my face alone it would probably take a few years lol. But I am also putting it on my arms and chest because my skin has been quite dry lately >.< which I gotta say is working really well.

What Do I Think Of This Product?

I would totally buy this again but I want to compare this with other aloe gels available. It has a mild scent, not too heavy not too light but its pretty distinct and it smells SO GOOD.
So I'm a pretty happy camper so far :D

Its very light

As soon as you put it on your skin you can feel the cooling/soothing effect and it absorbs wonderfully so you don't really need to use a lot. Plus I love that its so affordable!

Where Can You Get This Product?

As I said before I got this on Ebay for $9.85 US with free shipping and I didn't really explore other buying options.

I checked out Sasa and they don't have it available yet but probably soon.

Amazon has it available for $8.99 US plus about $4.40 for shipping.

I don't think I've seen this product available in local Vancouver stores, I know H-mart has some Korean skincare products available but I've only seen them sell Missha and Laneige.

One thing Nature Republic has to work on:

Their website
Specifically the english part of their website hahaha

I was trying to do a little research about the company and their products so I went to their website, maybe its my browser that couldn't load anything but as far as I know they don't have anything on the english site..

On another note I go to Hawaii soon!! WOOOOOO and THERE'S A NATURE REPUBLIC THERE!!!!!!!!!! I will probably buy SO MUCH STUFF lol. Shall I do a giveaway?? Let me know!

L'oreal Hydrafresh

Its been a while since I've posted anything skincare related.

I bought the L'oreal Gel-creme about a year ago at the local drug store because I thought it was the same as the anti-shine one. I saw lots of beauty guru's on youtube saying how amazing it was at mattifying their skin and how it made their skin stay non-oily during the summer.

It did not work for me. They were both good moisturizers in the summer because they weren't heavy but they did not mattify my skin and my skin became oily after a few hours.

Gel-Creme

I actually prefer the Gel-creme over the anti-shine because it has spf and it is slightly more moisturizing but not mattifying whatsoever.

Anti-shine Gel

if you are going to wear makeup with spf then I would use this but otherwise prepared to get super oily >.< I think maybe because my skin lacks enough moisture to be able to use this properly but that's just my assumption.

My Thoughts

I think if I had ok skin to begin with these two products would work well for me or if I wore mattifying makeup. But because I don't wear makeup I think using it as a general moisturizer didn't work for me.

I even took this with me to Korea during the summer to which it did not do anything whatsoever lol. I'm glad I actually found the Skinfood Peach Sake line because it actually did mattify my skin, I was really surprised. I thought that no toner/serum would ever mattify my skin but that line proved me wrong.

I wouldn't buy this again just because I know I can get something better for a better price as well... but everyone is different so if it doesn't work for me it doesn't mean it won't work for you.

Where Can You Get This Product?

I bought the Creme-gel one at the local Shoppers Drug Mart you can probably get it at Target or Wal-mart.

I bought the Anti-shine gel on Sasa for about $18 at the time. You can probably buy it on ebay because I couldn't find one.

The Weird Part of Youtube

Happy belated Halloween! I'm finally able to access this blog and gmail! lol

Lately my sleep schedule has been so messed up. I used to sleep at around 1-2AMish and now I sleep in the morning/afternoon like 11am >.< Yesterday I slept at 3PM O_O and woke up at 11PM and then basically did nothing the whole night. I guess I’m starting to sleep later….. I’m contemplating whether or not I should take a sleeping pill but for some reason I think it will do more harm than good.

The reason I’ve been sleeping so late is cause Steve would play games really late and then I would stay up and wait for him to come to bed -___-‘
Then I discovered the weird part of Youtube to kill time.

**********

I forgot what set this off but I remember watching some guy getting a cyst popped on youtube a few years ago. It was so gross and I was like why am I watching this? and why can’t I look away? Its pretty hypnotic and addicting watching these people do these things. Plus its fun grossing out your friends.

WARNING THE VIDEOS I AM ABOUT TO EMBED TO THIS POST ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN OR PEOPLE WHO ARE EASILY GROSSED OUT. WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Skin Food: Peach Sake Toner and Serum

Post by Amanda

I bought this product when I was in Korea in August. I had seen it before on Sasa and I really wanted to order it because I have really really oily skin but it was always sold out.

I bought the L'oreal Hydrafresh Anti-Shine Gel (will post on this later) earlier in the year because I had watched a few Youtube guru's claiming that it mattifies the skin so I was intrigued to buy it. I have to say it did not work for me. I wore it for a few hours and then would get oily, just goes to show not everyone is the same.

Laneige Firming Sleeping Pack

Post by Amanda

I bought this sleeping pack while I was in Korea in August for around $20 at the Lotte Duty Free.
I had a choice between the water sleeping pack and the firming one.
Since I know I can get the sleeping water pack on Sasa I chose the firming one.

Daiso Cosmetic Cotton

Post by Amanda

I never really thought there was a difference between cotton pads before until I started using these.

I bought them at Daiso because London Drugs ran out of the regular cotton pads I was using and they are just $2 per box. Usually I paid $2.99 for the circular cotton pads so it saves me $1 basically.

They're thinner than the circular ones and they don't absorb that much of the product that I put on it but do hold really well. So I actually am putting less toner on these pads compared to the circular ones because it doesn't absorb that much product.

At first I thought they would fall apart as soon as I put the toner on because they are so soft and for some reason I thought they would fall apart like toilet paper when it gets wet but they don't.

Very impressed by these $2 cotton wipes

Hope you can try these!
