Dine Out Vancouver - C Restaurant

 Dine Out Festival!

Last year I didn't get a chance to go to any dine out festival restaurants (dine out is when restaurants in Vancouver feature a set menu from $18, $28 and $38 so basically you can eat at a super fancy restaurant for $38 minimum O_O) Mainly because Steve was a lazy butt and doesn't like to go out in public -___-'

Me and Steve had plans with his friend and his girlfriend to find a place and eat so we picked this place since it had a reservation open through open table and according to the open table website it was good so we picked this place.

 Complimentary Champagne

We waited for over an hour even though we had a reservation and Steve was getting so pissed off because there was a huge group of people that came in after us and got seated first. I told him maybe they had a reservation, I don't know! No point being a douche to the staff at the restaurant.

 Complimentary Hors d'oeuvres

I guess they knew we waited for over an hour even though we had a reservation! They were a seared tuna piece with some soy/vinegar sauce, smoked salmon with cream cheese, a random quail egg and dill and a pickled beet ^__^

Appetizer! I splurged a little

I ordered foie gras because I never had it before but I'm aware of what it is and this was SO GOOD, a little small (as expected) but it was so good. I had to pay a bit extra for this but I think it was worth it, just wish I was bigger lol.

 Steve's Appetizer! Lobster Bisque

Or as he calls it biscuit lol. This was surprisingly salty, I'm used to lobster or even crab bisques being on the sweet and savory side instead of the salty side, I was a little disappointed but it wasn't terrible.

These were grilled nicely, the whole dish was nicely pulled together and I thought the fried fish skin was pretty cool lol (I thought it was a pork rind lol)

 Everyone but Steve got the steak entree

This was odd lol. There's a piece of slow braised beef in this dish which I thought totally threw off the whole dish because it had a weird taste lol, everyone who ordered the beef dish at our table was like wtf is this? lol but the sliced steak pieces were good, just wish there was more.

 Steve's Entree - Lobster

He had to pay like $20 extra (obviously its lobster) I'm generally not a big fan of lobster, this was alright, I only had like one piece. I prefer crab over lobster but Steve seemed to enjoy it, but he said he's had lobster entrees at other restaurants that were better than this.

So this was a panna cotta with basil sorbet, the sorbet was so odd lol but in a good way, super surprising lol, it ties in with the dish really well, especially with the berry soupy stuff LOL I don't know the correct terms! Only complaint wish the panna cotta was less yogurty and more firm otherwise A+.

I'm not a fan of chocolate but this was really good, it had a great smooth texture and light taste it was a good way to end a meal, wish I got this instead of the panna cotta lol.

Unfortunately the dine out festival has ended T_T but at least I got to eat at two restaurants this year ^__^ as for the C restaurant... I'm really not sure if I would go back and eat there with their regular menu, we were just a bit peeved about having to wait for over an hour even though we had a reservation, otherwise we would've just went somewhere else and waited an hour at a different restaurant with a better menu.

August Updates 2013

Its near the end of the month and that means almost back to school time T_T

So far I've only got one class -___-' (I bitched about it in a previous post) but I might actually pick up one more hopefully another but I doubt it, I have one class where only 4 people are ahead of me on the waitlist and the other class has like 26 people ahead of me.. so I doubt I will get into that one but I really hope that I can get into another class. Come on people drop out of that class! LOL

*edit: I got into another class!! WOOHOOO!!

Steve's sister came back to Vancouver in mid-August and she was only here for about three days, the original plan was for her to stay for like a month and help take care of the dog but she had to leave early for some assessment test for school and Steve was all like "she just doesn't to deal with mom" lol. Then they had an explosive argument at like 2AM. They literally screamed at each other, Steve had to bring Monet into our room (where I was) because she was getting scared from all the yelling, she was all shaky :( but calmed down eventually. Most of the argument was about his sister and how she spends lots of money and has no future goals or something...

Speaking of which apparently his mom changed her work plans. She really really wants to open a restaurant so she's going to take her care aide classes (which is one year) and when she graduates she's going to open a restaurant and his sister graduates next year and wants to take a year or two off to help out at the restaurant. One thing that bugs me is that they have no restaurant experience, neither of them has worked at one and they're just going to go eat at other restaurants and steal their ideas lol.

You know what's annoying? When there are tons of sales and you are totally broke lol Poop I am hoping they're still there when I get some moneys T_T but! when I did have $$$ I ordered a CC cream! O_O review coming soon!

Still having some trouble with eyeliner lol since I have monolids it just doesn't show up lol, people with monolids! help me hahahaha

Other than that there's not much I did this month besides go to a wedding and just hang out with my friends :P

Our Anniversary

Enough of this dog! lol will update about her later, now to get your juices flowing! lol...

It was our anniversary on July 11th! Steve took the day off so we can go out and play but we didn't really do much we went out for lunch, went to the US to pick up a package, came home for dinner and saw a movie. We're boring people... lol Steve doesn't like to go out that much, especially to crowded places.

 Went to Aberdeen Centre in Richmond for lunch

I ordered Japanese Katsu and curry from Saboten 

(its a chain restaurant, I saw one in Seoul when we were there last year)

I have to say this made both me and Steve have diarrhea.. but it was delicious LOL

 Steve got a hamburger from Vera's burger

That poutine was monstrous!

Then right after we ate had some fun bathroom times LOL. Afterwards we went to the states to pick up Steve's rotors for his car and decided to have dinner and go see a movie. Steve's mom phoned us like once an hour to see where we were -___-' so annoying and to let us know that she was getting a hair cut (which we were like wtf we don't care lol)

 For dinner we went to a nice fine dining restaurant called Gusto Di Quattro

I've always wanted to go to this place because its been around for a long time

I even had a high school friend who did a work experience there and he said the food was amazing

 I'm only a fan of white wine

I've never had a red wine that I've liked so far
suggestions?

 At least Steve chose a good wine

He drank most of it anyways because he knows I have a low alcohol tolerance

 I'm a huge sucker for fresh bread and good olive oil with balsamic vinegar

I think we had two baskets full of bread that night lol

We shared a pretty big Caesar salad

Apparently this was an appetizer O_O

Any salad that has pancetta in it means its good LOL

 My Entree Fusilli Tartufate

It had shaved beef and wild mushrooms in a truffle cream sauce

T_T best creamy pasta dish I've had

I love wild mushrooms!

 Steve had the daily Steak Entree

I'm not sure what the greens were but the potatoes tasted like a potato salad

But it was still really really good, especially with that wine sauce

Afterwards we went to see a movie nearby, I also wanted to take a walk at the automall area since that's what we did on our first date. I think we saw white house down LOL. We were pretty tired after the movie since we got up pretty early and then we ended up just going home and sleeping T_T we're getting OLD!!!!!!!!!!!

Birthday Dinners!

WOO PARTY TIME!!

For my actual birthday day I didn't really do much.. had a ok dinner (kimchi soup T_T wanted something else) and that was about it Steve didn't get me anything -___-' but his mom did LOL gave me a gift card. Then as some of you know the rest of the day was full of stress, thanks parents.. I always have the best birthdays T__T (if you can't tell I'm being sarcastic) but I did have a few nice dinners with my best friend and Ashley :)

With my friend I went to one of my favorite local restaurants T__T Burgoo!!

 We ordered a pitcher of Strawberry Lemonade (with alcohol! ^__^ lol)

And Nachos!

 I always get their Soup and sandwich combo!

I got a giant cup of Crab bisque and The Dos Diablos sandwich!

(two sandwiches that have chorizo, cheese and red peppers, my favorite!)

 My friend got the Moroccan lamb with couscous! 

which was SO GOOD!

 

 I had so much fooood! But it was so good!

Ashley and her husband came to visit this past weekend to celebrate her husbands mom's birthday. They arrived Saturday and left Sunday and we went out to lunch when they came and picked me up and I felt bad that I picked a restaurant where Ashley's husband couldn't get a decent meal and pay quite a bit for it >.<

Me and Ashley headed downtown afterwards to do some shopping but we didn't end up buying anything -___-' lol so we basically window shopped. We had to meet Ashley's husband and his mom and her husband for dinner at Las Margaritas which was AWESOME!

(Honestly it was just a small layer of chips and 

tons of toppings so it looks big, not worth $11 would not order again)

 I was the only one that didn't order fajitas at our table LOL

I ordered the Chicken Tamal and the Chicken Enchilada combo ^__^

 Everyone else got fajitas lol

Ashley ended up switching her meal with mine because I got full and ate like half my meal lol

This dog is so small! Its Ashley's husbands brothers dog 

it looks like a miniature version of Ashley's dog Trixie

They said that Trixie is now the ugly one and has been replaced LOL

She's still one of my favorite dogs! ^__^

She got so chubby though -___-' but she's still super cute!

I did get these for my birthday! ^__^

YAY! THANKS ASHLEY AND YOUR HUSBAND! lol

Dog, The District and More!

Wow the year has gone by so fast already! Almost half the year gone!

 She's a 1 year old Toy Pomeranian

Steve likes to scare here with the helmet, I have no idea why she gets so scared of it lol

I think I mentioned before that Steve's mom is here and his sister had visited.. So far there hasn't been any major issues besides the dog thing... If the dog is left alone as in we're asleep and Steve's mom is in the bathroom or something she will start barking and its super annoying. I'm a little worried that our tenant will move out because of this dog but I told Steve that if she moves out then the dog has to go too lol.

When his sister was here for some reason his mom decided she wanted to go for a drive to Squamish and I thought it was a stupid idea and a huge waste of time. There was nothing to see, we stopped at Shannon falls and that's it. We drove all the way to Stanley park right after and did nothing there too. I mean if they never lived here before yeah why not go but if you've lived here for more than 10 years then its stupid to take a random drive up to look at nothing.

Recently discovered The District, a restaurant at the bottom of lonsdale. Its quite a small place but has great food plus the location is great especially on nice days out I like to sit outside on the patio.

 My friend ordered cure we have no idea what we got 

because the board of meat/cheese was inside

 I've been "trying" to watch my diet lol

since finding out that I have gallstones I've kind of been watching what I've been eating 

so far so good no stomach pains since the results.

I got the warm pear and candied bacon salad... To be honest it was ok but the bacon tasted kind of weird lol. I wish I got the Belgian Salad tons of people ordered it and it looked gooood T_T maybe next time.

 Oven roasted Chicken and Brie Sandwich

Comes with handcut super crispy fries and the tarragon mayo is SO GOOD I'm hooked!

My friend also ordered meatballs and croquettes but the croquettes were too creamy for me

The meatballs also had too much of a creamy texture too >.< not my style

Speaking of food... I'm subscribed to Foodwishes on Youtube and whenever chef John makes something (especially soup) I want to make it lol plus his recipes are so simple, I'm still contemplating whether or not I should make the chocolate bundt cake.. but no one but me will eat it T_T

The other day I attempted to make the Sopa De Ajo he made which is a garlic/bread soup

 I basically made it the exact way he did it but I didn't have Parsley on hand so I had to omit that ingredient

 Had a little trouble with poaching the egg it fell all the way to the bottom of the pot T_T

but I felt like it was too much for this soup anyways so next time I make it I won't put the egg in

Ok it looks unappealing in this photo but it was so delicious! OMG I can't wait to make this again :D

Opened up one of the red lipsticks I picked up last time I went to the States! By Revlon #740 Certainly Red (Super Lustrous Lipsticks)

 How red! I'm used to wearing a darker shade of red so this was quite refreshing!

Oh my can you see how red my skin is? 

Lol have to start wearing some BB creams/foundation >.<

I think I might just try all of the lipsticks and take photos so you can get an idea of how they all look. I'm looking for the 02 matte lipstick by Revlon but I'm not sure if I want a matte lipstick or not... I do want a nude and these are super affordable as it is so I might as well give a try next time I see them.

I also picked up two more lipsticks recently so you can see which colors they are if you follow me on instagram and other purchases too.

January 2013 Updates

What a month, I can't believe I survived a month of Steve's mom hahaha.
Not much has happened this month, Steve leaves soon for his interview in Calgary and I don't get why his mom is staying while he is gone... and She's leaving while he's gone so.. wtf.
Anyways Here's an update on what's been happening around here.

 Had a late dinner from Stepho's!
If you don't want to wait in the long line then I suggest calling and ordering take out!

 My parents made us all have dinner together with Steve's mom and us >.<

My mom drove and we were getting pissed off because she sucks at driving lol

 Hot and Sour Soup!

Holy crap this soup was so spicy, I don't think I've had such a spicy hot and sour soup before

>.<

 Shrimp Mayo.. I don't really know what the actual name of this dish is but it's good lol

 Steamed chicken with ginger and garlic

 So much foood

Steve told me this is his favorite Choy dish and I have no idea what its called lol

 I used the hot rollers before I got my hair cut
it turned out ok.. I think I have to practice rolling them better

I didn't use hair spray so it lasted not that long haha like an hour

 Falafel burger at Raglan's
It was pretty busy when we went and I felt that my burger was a kind of overcooked

Perogies with sour cream and onions and cheese :D

Monsoon Drink, I'm not sure what drink we actually got but it had coke and lime in it

Finally went to Metrotown after so LONG! and visited the T & T supermarket

They opened up a new beauty section and it looks like a mini Watsons

They have lots of Japanese and Chinese skincare/makeup/haircare products (sort of overpriced)

So I bought these two facial masks I wanted to order from Sasa

Will review soon :D

Its been super foggy lately... so creepy..

When Steve's sister was here I thought it would be horrible with his mom but it really wasn't bad at all. One thing that pissed me off was that why did his mom not go to Montreal instead? She knows that her daughter has to go to school and is busy with her own work and they were going to pay for a round-trip plane ticket anyway, I don't get why his mom didn't just fly out there to visit her, its not like she's doing anything here anyways.. wtf selfish. I'm not looking forward being at home with his mom for a week by myself..

In other news she told us she wants to be a health care aid because her friend supposedly makes $4000 a month which seems really ridiculous lol I asked some of my friends that are healthcare professionals and they say that's a lot unless you work a lot of overtime and she expects to make that much plus she thinks that you just sit there with old people and hang out with them LOL. She's been trying to do all the prerequisites for it and from what I can see I don't get why she even wants to try to be a student here, her english is HORRIBLE, she had to study the first aid book for 4 days before actually doing the two-day class...

I finally got a hair cut... it looks weird, I FUCKING HATE IT LOL. I'm never getting bangs ever again (Steve super loves it lol) but holy shit I hate it lol, I have to figure out a way of styling it so I don't look retarded lol. At least its healthy now.. lol

I've been going to the gym almost everyday and I've been trying to get Steve to go with me but he's been making no effort to go so I'm thinking he might fail his physical test portion of his interview and he's been extra super angry at me for no reason...
